ROBBERIES

Robberies are said to be of very frequent occurrence now in Charleston. The following is from a late number of the Evening News.

"A gentleman residing in Tradd street, had his house entered on Saturday night, while he was from home, by a robber, who administered chloroform to his wife, and then proceeded to search the house for valuables. He failed, however, to find any money, and his operations were confined to a wardrobe, where he helped himself to some valuable articles of clothing."

Robberies are now of nightly occurrences and we would again warn our citizens to be on the alert, and use every precaution to guard their premises against the incursions of these nocturnal marauders. A few examples would have a tendency to check the amusement, by convincing those who follow it, that it is an unsafe and precarious investment.
