POLITICAL POINTS.
The position of the Pottsville Republican on the question of the Greenback tail wagging the Republican dog any longer, is in accord with the sentiments of a majority of the Republicans north of the mountain.
Now that John Phillips has a good berth we presume he will be deaf to the Recorder bee which Senator Coyle set to buzzing about his ears.
Congressman Brumm's friends are congratulating themselves upon having switched John T. Shoener off the track for the Congressional nomination. It might possibly have been better to have kept him in the race.
Dan McCarthy, the active politician of Freeland, is out as a Democratic candidate for Senator in lower Luzerne, and to boom his candidacy along has purchased a controlling interest in the Hazleton Truth.
There are about four Greenback Republicans in St. Clair. One of them is a Deputy Clerk of the Courts, another an Under Warden in the prison, a third is a cadet at Annapolis, while the fourth, our genial bald-headed friend, Dan Duffy, is secretary of the county committee, with a notion to shy his castor in the ring again for another county office.
The Pattison presidential boom has apparently been struck by a cyclone.
The kind of warfare the Pottsville Republican is waging against Congressman Brumm is hardly consistent with clean journalism, and may react in a manner so as to strengthen Mr. Brumm's position. We believe, like hundreds of Republicans, that there are any number of good reasons why the present Congressman should step aside for some one else. The Republican has adopted the wrong course to accomplish that end.
