Full Text

The Charlottesville Advocate objects to some resolutions passed at a meeting of the citizens of Louisa County, in reference to certain characters in that County, whose presence is objected to, in which these persons are threatened with punishment, by extra-legal means, &c. The Advocate thinks that we have law enough in Virginia to punish all offenders against the law, and that the prosecution and punishment of criminals should always be left to the Courts, and Magistrates, and their proper officers—and that no San Francisco Vigilance Committee, or any thing like them, should be encouraged.
