Arkansas Has Careful Smokers.

Recent compilation of figures on causes of fires shows that Arkansas has the most careful tobacco smokers of any state in the Union. Only 7.10 of 1 per cent of the fires of known origin start from this cause in Arkansas, it is shown by figures in possession of the Arkansas Actuarial bureau. In the United States in one year, however, smokers were responsible for the burning up of $4,505,973 worth of property. In some other states the loss ratio from this cause runs as high as 18 per cent, which is Nevada's figures. The benighted inhabitants of that Western state would seem to be 20 times as "keerless" in that respect as those of Arkansas, according to these figures.
