The subject chosen for last night's
services at the Christian church by
Bro. Read was that of "Nicodemus
came to the Savior by Night." and he
took for his text the words "Ye must
be born again." It was forcibly and
eloquently shown that the transition
from life to death was instantaneous,
and from this came also the conclusion
that the transition from death
in sin to life and pardon in Christ
must also be instantaneous. and that
that point and moment was reached
when the sinner had yielded complete
obedience to the command of
Christ. As on all former occasions
the fact that God alone can forgive
sins was forced upon the hearers.
But it was also urged
that pardon
could not come or be given by the
Father until man had yielded his
stubborn will and accepted and complied
with the terms of salvation
which were shown to be by faith, repentance,
confession and baptism.
The audience last night was somewhat
larger than the night before,
although the weather remained threatening.
It is felt that the Interest in
the meeting is increasing and that
much and lasting good is being done.
Services will be held tonight and on
during the week. Come out and
bring your friends with you and we
will do you good.
