We hear from Wallingford, in Connecticut, That on the 2d Instant, they had a most severe Thunder Storm. The Clouds seem'd to come from the S. W. & N. E: which was supposed to Occasion as hard a Storm as was ever known in that Town. The Steeple of the old Meeting-House was struck, and very much shattered; it struck down the Weather Cock; and tore a great Hole in the Roof of the Steeple, and then run down the North Part of the Steeple. Mess. Nott's, Hezekiah Johnson's and Isaac's Houses were struck; and Mrs. Merriman's Negro, but not much hurt. The Houses of Mr. Nott and Mr. Johnson are about four Miles distant, N. E. and S. W. This is the third Time the said Steeple and Weather Cock has received the like Catastrophe. The first Time a young Man when finishing the same, was by the. Explosion thrown off about 86 Feets, and lived about three Quarters of an Hour in most exquisite Anguish of Body. and then expired.
