A blood thirsty Spanish royalist, named Cipriani Oroces, navigating a branch of the Orinoco, in a small boat, in company with some Indians, met two unarmed British officers, viz: lieutenants Watson and Harris, of the royal navy, proceeding up that river in a boat, stabbed them with his own hand, after his followers refusing to do it because they were unarmed. The monster is now in prison at Trinidad, and says he has almost forgotten this trifling occurrence. Witnesses have made oath against him. It is supposed these British officers were going to join the independents: however, the authorities in Trinidad hope to bring the murderer to punishment.—Washington City Gazette.
