BOSTON, March 30.

Remarks upon the Capture of Amsterdam.

The English are held in such abhorrence by the Dutch, that they view them as the cause of their present difficulties, and load them with execrations. It is a well known fact, that the intrigues of the British Cabinet reduced the democratic party to subjection, under the power of the Stadtholder, and made this officer hereditary, who had been formerly elective.—

The Dutch were averse to the present war :

But the British and the Stadtholderian party forced them into it. In Holland the British emissaries, merchants, agents and traitors, preached nothing but actual hostility. In America they have preached peace and neutrality, and declared that we ought not to assist the French, even with a pistol. What ! risk the cap of Liberty for the sake of a pistol ! In this stupendous revolution in Holland-all the British transports at Flushing were scuttled, and an English Cutter repulsed by a Dutch ship of war lying across the harbor. This single fact shows the spirit of the people in a striking point of view. There is no account of the American Ambassador in this explosion ; whether he has retired with the Stadtholder to the Court of St. James, or whether he has gone over to Gen. Pichegru to congratulate him on the signal success of the French Democrats.

The God of Battles must necessarily be with the French-For nothing short of his Providence, can account for these almost miraculous achievements. It is said as a providential circumstance which will not fail to make a suitable impression on minds not steeled against such evidence, that the frost took place in Holland, just at the moment when the French Democrats were ready to begin their operations, and continued till they had succeeded completely in their objects.-The day or two after they had secured some of the most important Dock-yards, Arsenals and Magazines, the thaw commenced--had it begun earlier, the expedition would have been defeated.-No doubt, some of our pious Clergymen, will lift up Songs of Thanksgiving, for this wonderful dispensation.
