DORCHESTER ACADEMY NEWS

Everything at Dorchester Academy is busy getting ready for commencement. All hope to close this school year in a successful way. Examinations will begin Monday.

On last Friday afternoon on the campus, the Dorchester Academy base ball team defeated Waycross in an exciting game, score 6-4. This was the second game played with Waycross club this season. They beat us 22 to 8 on the home diamond. Saturday the strong D. A. Tigers played a local team at the Cross Roads. D. A. winning easily with a score of 12 to 4. The record of our baseball team this year is as follows: Selden 3 to 2, Dorchester; Waycross 22, Dorchester 8; Waycross 4, Dorchester 6; Glennville 7, Dorchester 9; Cross Roads 4, Dorchester 12. Games played 8; won 4; lost 4.

Mother's Day exercises last Sunday were very impressive in both Sunday school and church. Rev. Forbes, the new pastor of Midway Congregational Church, preached an uplifting sermon which was greatly appreciated by all.

Sunday afternoon there was a meeting of the advisory board of Dorchester Academy on the campus. It was well attended by the members. Money was taken up for the installation of the telephone system and for fences. The board adjourned to meet on the campus commencement day.

On May 14, Miss Ethel L. Howard and Mrs. Mann of Worcester, Mass., visited our school. We were pleased to have these ladies and we enjoyed the addresses made to us in chapel by them. They were impressed with our work.

We are cordially inviting the public to attend our commencement exercises which begins Thursday evening, May 24. The program is as follows: Thursday evening, May 24, high school rhetorical; Friday evening May 25, stunt night; Sunday, afternoon, May 27, baccalaureate sermon which will be preached by Rev. G. S.
