ARRESTED FOR MURDER.

Albert Hoff in Custody on Charge of Killing Mrs. Clute

San Francisco. Dec. 17.-The mystery attending the brutal murder of Mrs. Mary Clute Wednesday morning, has been apparently solved by the arrest of a Russian, known as Albert Hoff, who had been employed by Mrs. Clute to renovate the mattresses. The prisoner was identified. Mrs L. A. Lagg, who occupies the room directly under that in which the murder was committed saw the man leaving the house soon after Mrs. Clute's dying calls for help were heard. Hoff's hand is badly cut, as though by the sharp edge of the coupling pin with which the murder was committed. He strenuously maintains his innocence, however.
