Grover Henderson Will Head Chamber

Grover C. Henderson, owner of Quinn's of Dunn, prominent business, civic and religious leader, and Harnett County Coroner, was named president of the Dunn Chamber of Commerce by the Board of Directors this morning.

Henderson will succeed Henry Sandlin who has served this year. During 1953 Henderson served as vice president of the Chamber and has been active in various committee work. Working with him in 1954 will be Bert Alabaster, named vice president by the Directors, J. L. Thomas, treasurer; and Norman J. Suttles, secretary.

DINNER IN JANUARY

President Sandlin congratulated Henderson this morning on his election. New Officers of the Chamber will be installed at the annual Chamber of Commerce dinner to be held early in January.

Members of the Board of Directors discussed a date for the annual dinner today, but no definite plans were made. Names of two national political leaders were mentioned yesterday as possible speakers at the dinner.

the group at the dinner, and plans will be mapped for the new year.

PLANS DISCUSSED

In the meeting this morning, a list of activities were discussed, but no action was taken. The Directors decided to write all members of the Chamber asking them to state their choice of a committee assignment.

Suttles stated today that an effort is being made to give each member of the C of C. a chance to select his own committee. Each member will be asked to serve on at least one committee, he said.

New Directors. J. Norwood Stephenson, Thad Pope, and Frank Belote. attended the meeting this morning and were welcomed on the Board by the old members. Suttles also congratulated new directors on their elections.
