The naval commissioners at Venice have ordered vast naval stores of ship timber to be transported from the forests of Dalmatia to their arsenals, and the construction of two immense dry docks, upon the same principles as those which have existed for 240 years, & by which the Venetian republic was enabled to preserve their ships from decay double the period of any other nation. The Prefect of Venice has ordered 11 sail of the line, 6 of which of 80 guns, to be laid on the stocks in the arsenals of his prefecture: the keel of the Charlemagne was laid on the 7th of March, being the anniversary of the first coalition of Austria, Prussia, the German empire, England, Holland, Spain, Portugal, the two Sicilies, the Papal states and the king of Sardinia, against France, which was declared in 1793, on this date-there was an extra carnival and great rejoicings.
