Event Details
Approximately 2,500 deer were killed during the season which closes Tuesday. This is the smallest number in many years, the kill of 1919 totaling 25,000 and the figures for the years preceding average about the same. 70,000 hunting licenses were issued as compared to 68,000 in 1919, but hunters cannot find deer that do not exist. The deer has been almost exterminated in northern Wisconsin. We should have a closed season for the next two years. The commissioner stated that the one buck law was generally observed and that only 15 arrests for violation of the hunting laws had been reported.
