EVANSVILLE, July 28.—The Arkansas Belle, yesterday, brought up the passengers and part of the crew of the Jennie Howell. Mrs. Sprangler, of Paducah, and a child of Mrs. Ring, of Vicksburg, and a colored boy, were drowned. A child of Mrs. Sprangler, supposed to have been drowned, was found sleeping on a mattress floating in the state room. The body of the drowned child was recovered and brought here for interment. The officers of the Quickstep report the upper works of the Jennie Howell to have been washed off and a portion of the hull and the wheel only are visible. The crew after an examination left for Cairo. The Howell will prove a total loss.

Captain Reese, daughter and brother passed through here last night from St. Louis for the scene of the disaster. They left on the Phil Sheridan.
