Full Text

A Captivating Squaw.

A "blue-eyed Saxon," in Utah, lately became captivated with a female of the Washoe tribe and, it is said, forcibly bore her away to his romantic home by the sunny side of a silver hill, where he had pitched his tent. Although taken against her will, the dusky damsel somehow couldn't manage to escape, although many opportunities must have offered, while her captor was abroad in the mountains "a chasing the wild deer and hunting the roe." The Washoes made a fuss about it, and articles were printed in the papers of Silverland in reference to it. Finally, the trouble was ended by certain of the Washoes getting hold of the nut-brown "gal," and bearing her off in triumph to the wigwams of the tribe. The "blue-eyed Saxon" was in hard luck, and the supposition is that he shed copious tears. We are privately informed that he is a tall youth, with a very red head. A fiery nature.
