JUDGE JOHN F. DILLON, Presiding
Ina M. Gurrod, Clerk
Davenport, August 18th, 1860.

Court opened at 9 o'clock, pursuant to adjournment. Quite an interesting feature of the proceedings in the District Court on Saturday, was the arguments of counsel in the case of Bartis vs. Cook & Sargent, on the hearing of the defendants for a dissolution of the injunction granted the plaintiff. The counsel for Cook & Sargent declined any argument, and the cause was reserved by Judge Dillon for decision.

Hubbell and True for plaintiff: Grant for defendants.

Sherman vs. Nuckello,
This was a suit by Ebenezer Sherman, owner of the Nickolls Block, against Albert Nuckells, more familiarly known as "Prince Albert," for rent. Brown and Armstrong for plaintiff; Congdon & Hall for defendant. Verdict for defendant.

The case of State vs. Henry Bartemier, charged with larceny. The defendant demurred to the indictment, alleging for cause that this Court had no jurisdiction to try person for an offence committed on a steam boat out of the limits of the county. Demurrer was sustained and defendant discharged.

O'Conner for State; Shorey for defendant.

The discussion of a demurrer in an interesting case is fixed for Monday [this] morning. It is a suit to recover back, usury paid on a usurious contract. It is the case of Nicholls vs. Skeel. Hubbell for plaintiff; Davison & True for defendant.

Court adjourned at 5 o'clock until [this] Monday morning at 9 o'clock.
