The Kewalo Bicycle Track Association is to disband, and C. S. Desky and H. E. Walker will build the much-talked-of track as a private enterprise.
Such was the decision arrived at last night. Mr. Desky and his colleague will brook no further delay in the matter. They propose to commence operations at once, and to have their track ready for use by September 1.
The new track is to be built on a four-acre tract on the Waikiki side of Cyclomore. It will be a wooden track, one-sixth of a mile, 18 feet in width, with a 23-foot stretch. The outer edge of the track will be six feet higher than the inner edge, making the track fast and safe, and a great improvement on the famous Velodrome track in San Francisco. The grand stand will have a seating capacity of 500, and there will be, in addition, private boxes, with chairs, for bicycle parties. The track will be inclosed by a tight board fence eight feet in height. The dressing rooms and training quarters will be under the grand stand.
