NEW YORK-Newspapers are doing much to aid teenagers find employment, the American Newspaper Publishers assn. reports. A number of its members have created job opportunities for young people, the organization reveals, by providing free want-ad space.
In the Geneva (N.Y.) Times young people under 18 get free space each year for a job or buying and selling ads during what is designated as "free want ad" week. In Wichita Falls, Tex., all high school students seeking jobs were given ad space in the Times and Record-News. And the Bergen Evening Record Hackensack, N.J., published during a three-day period 700 free ads by young people, many of them submitted by job-seeking boys and girls.
