A variety of natural productions have been lately brought by a Gentleman from Scotland, among which are that of the Asbestos, so well known to the ancients, by its duration after being tried in the fire. Although it is of the nature of a stone, yet by a certain preparation is dissolved into something like cotton, and may be wrought into a cloth. This Gentleman, we are informed, has some of it made into a paper, and has invented a red ink with which it may be wrote upon, and after being in the fire, comes out pure and entire, but the letters are then of a black colour.
