Mr. Evans, a merchant of the village of Paris in this county, has a "mad stone," which he is confident is a sure remedy for the bite of a mad dog. He informed us last week that he has applied it to fifty-nine persons and animals within a few years past; all of whom had been bitten by rabid dogs, and that in no instance has it failed to effect a cure.--We have heard lately of persons passing through here for Illinois on the hunt of a "mad stone," unaware that there was one in this section. Perhaps the Press of the State would do well to give this information to their readers, that those who have faith in such things may know where it can be found. Mr. Evans says he would advertise largely, but as he makes no charge to any one for the use of it, he cannot afford it. Paris the place of his residence, is on the Wapsipinicon river about twelve miles north of Marion.--Linn Co. Register.
