Early last week the local manager of the Standard Oil Company published an interview in which he stated that Deputy Oil Inspector Elliott had told him that the Inspectors had agreed to travel on passes and charge up mileage, and that only four Inspectors would be appointed and the salaries of the six provided for by law would be drawn and divided among them. Governor Leedy investigated the matter, stating that if this condition was found to exist, he would remove the whole force. He finds that there is nothing in the matter and that Elliott never made the statements.
