Local manager of the Standard Oil Company published an interview stating that Deputy Oil Inspector Elliott told him that Inspectors had agreed to travel on passes and charge up mileage, only four Inspectors would be appointed, and the salaries of the six provided for by law would be drawn and divided among them. Governor Leedy investigated the matter, stating that if the condition existed he would remove the whole force.
