A Question for Lawyers.—A hotel at Quincy, Illinois, owned by the State of Illinois, was recently offered for sale, the bidding to be by means of sealed proposals. Among other bids, one company offered six hundred and one dollars higher than the highest bid; another five hundred dollars more than anybody else! The Governor decided in favor of the former, but the latter, contending that their bid was the highest and best, are taking measures to contest the matter legally; the Governor withholds the deed of sale until the proper tribunal decides on the case.
