Full Text

Sectarian Polemics.—Mr. Wainright and Mr. Potts, two clergymen of the city of New York, the former an Episcopalian, the latter a Presbyterian, are engaged in a newspaper controversy, on the question, whether there can be a church without a bishop. We would respectfully suggest to those gentlemen, whether they would not be quite as well employed in feeding the hungry, and clothing the naked, and visiting the prisoners, and the fatherless, and the widows, and the sick, and in endeavoring to reform the vicious, and to cheer the desponding, and to console the mourning, that may be found in that great city in this inclement season, if not within the limits of their own parishes.
