Starving Cattle.

That California is again suffering for the want of rain was most forcibly illustrated last evening, when a train of twenty-five cars—about 500 head—of weak and starving cattle pulled into this station from Gilroy, to get something to eat. The feed about Gilroy is all gone, and it was a question of whether the owners of the stock would ship hay from Nevada to the cattle, or ship the cattle to the hay. They concluded it was better to ship the stock to the bay. The cattle were unloaded here last evening and this morning started for Spanish Springs Valley, where hay has been provided for them.
