EAT CORN BREAD

In these times when we hear much about ways of conserving national resources in order that we can help our Allies across the Atlantic, one of the most effective ways would be the doing away of the excessive use of wheat bread and the substitution of corn bread.

Corn bread is wholesome and more nutritious. Corn meal is made mostly from the entire grain, while flour is made from only a small part of the wheat grain. After we pay a high price for highly bleached flour and compare it with the same amount of pounds in corn meal, there is quite a difference as to food value in favor of meal.

White bread is practically unknown in Europe. By using corn bread more extensively, we will enable them to use more flour in the mixture they use for bread. Our corn crop this year will be one of the largest we have ever produced, and by using this grain we will be doing our part to help make the burden lighter for those who do not have such unlimited quantities of grain for food.
