off the presses at 9 a.m. Saturday
and Portland has three daily
newspapers for the first time in
22 years.
The daily publication of the
Reporter began on the first anniversary
of its establishment as a
weekly newspaper. It has been
published semi-weekly for some
months.
It is staffed by union members
on strike
against
the Oregonian
and
Oregon
Journal, the
city's
two
other
dailies.
That
strike began more
than a year
ago.
The front page of the Reporter's
first edition had a picture layout
on the floods and high water
which have hit Western Oregon.
The paper is published in tabloid
form.
