His aid their High Mightiness; after the usual Compliments, acquaint his Majesty, that as States General they had no Right to interfere in any particular Province, every Province being an absolute Master of itself; and as Executors of the Will of the late King William, their Hands were tied up, having some Time ago, pass'd a Resolution to leave the said Provinces to themselves, with Regard to the Extradition of the Estates of his said late Majesty.
They also write from the Hague, that the States of Zealand have requested their High Mightiness the States General, to represent to his Britannick Majesty, the Reasons which cannot suffer them to depart from the repeated Resolutions they have taken, to re-unite the Sovereignty of the Marquiate of Ter-Veer and Flushing, to their Province, paying to his Serene Highness the Prince of Orange, the Equivalent they have offer'd him Money.
These Letters add, that their High Mightiness, to give Satisfaction to the Several Towns of the Provinces, the People appearing to interest themselves for the Prince of Orange, have order'd 10,000 Copies of his Majesty Letter, and their Answer annex'd, to be printed and dispers'd, to satisfy the Minds of the Publick in Relation to the said Affair.
