The present Governor of St. Bartholomews is Sir John Noringling, who deserves to be remembered in this country with feelings of respect and gratitude for his benevolent, generous and disinterested exertions in behalf of the American captives in Algiers, in 1813-14, while resident there as consul of his Swedish Majesty.
