A letter has been received at Philadelphia by the owners of the ship Orleans, from Lt. Comd't Gregory, of the U. S. schr. Grampus, dated St. Thomas, Oct. 30, stating that the piratical ship Jupiter, which plundered the above vessel, had been seized by the governor of St. Bartholomews, and that he had given Lieut. G. assurances the ship and every thing appertaining to her should be sequestered, to answer the claims of American merchants interested in the Orleans and her cargo.

The present Governor of St. Bartholomews is Sir John Noringling, who deserves to be remembered in this country with feelings of respect and gratitude for his benevolent, generous and disinterested exertions in behalf of the American captives in Algiers, in 1813-14, while resident there as consul of his Swedish Majesty.
