Mr. Polet, prominent Nome business man who has been in the states on business for the past couple of months, returned to Nome before the arrival of the first boats, due to business reasons.
While in Seattle Mr. Polet, as secretary of the N. W. Alaska Chamber of Commerce was associated with G. R. Jackson in helping to secure the release of ready shipments of Nome lumber. He stated that Mr Jackson was particularly influential in securing concessions from the Lumber Strike Board for the release of Nome lumber orders which were ready for shipment.
In remarking about the action of public organizations of Nome in warning the labor class with jobs about coming to Nome. Mr. Polet stated that its effectiveness was very noticeable upon his departure from Seattle for Nome. There were many he said who contemplated coming to Nome on a chance but when they were notified of the conditions, cancelled their reservations.
Mr. Polet was optimistic concerning this year's activity in Nome, and stated that the belief in the states was that Nome and Fairbanks were the two big booming towns of Alaska today.
