Hon. Arnold M. Golden
Given Popular Reception

On landing in Frederiksted from the S.S. "Oritani" yesterday Councilman Arnold M. Golden was met on the dock by a crowd of citizens, carrying flags, while an orchestra was discoursing sweet music. Mr. Golden was presented a bouquet as his feet touched the dock.

A procession was formed, led by two men carrying large American flags, then followed a truck with the Christiansted Syocopators orchestra. Behind the truck were men and women carrying flags and in the rear were Councilman Golden and a few friends from the continent and another car with other citizens.

The procession passed through King Street and at the home of Mr. Golden, he made a brief address. Cheers were proposed for the President of the United States, cheers for the Democrats and cheers for the Hon. Arnold M. Golden.

Mr. Golden was returning from an official visit to Washington, being one of the three delegates appointed by the Colonial Council of St. Croix to appear before the President of the United States and the Secretary of the Interior.

In the course of his remarks Mr. Golden said he was surprised to find the President well informed on local conditions, a strong argument in favor of the President's interest in the Virgin Islands.
