Into Passing Automobile

Lacy, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Ayers Fleming of Clintwood narrowly escaped death when hit by an automobile here Monday evening in the east end of town.

The driver, Lindsay Mullins, was bringing a load of miners home from work when the accident happened. According to reports, the boy, on a sled, cut across the street in front of the car and was hardly seen before being hit. The brakes were slammed on and the car skidded for several yards on the slick pavement before it could be stopped, dragging the boy along with it.

Mullins immediately rushed the boy to the hospital here where it was found that his injuries were not as serious as feared. He is reported doing well and will be able to be taken home soon.

None of the other men in the car saw the boy until Mullins told them he had hit someone.
