Full Text

After Jesus' death on the Cross, Joseph of Arimathea, one of His followers, went to Pilate and secured permission to place the body in a tomb in his garden. The woman who had followed Jesus on the sad walk from Jerusalem to Calvary prepared spices and ointments to embalm His body.

At dawn of the third day, they went to the sepulcher to perform their task, but found the stone rolled away from the entrance. Entering, they found the body gone and were frightened by seeing a young man in a long white garment sitting there. He told them:

"Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: He is risen; He is not here: behold the place where they laid Him. But go your way, tell His disciples and Peter that He goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see Him, as He said unto you." (St. Mark XVI: 6, 7.)
