Murder.
On Saturday night last, a man, named Thomas Richardson, was murdered at Freeman's old tavern, on the new bridge road, about five miles from this city, by Allen King, a county constable. It appears they had been playing at cards, when one accused the other of cheating. A quarrel arose; and they went out and fought. After being separated, King drew a pistol, and shot Richardson through the head, which killed him on the spot. King fled; but information of the horrid transaction being sent to our police officers, they succeeded in apprehending him in this city yesterday morning. King is a good looking man; and it is said both he and his victim heretofore enjoyed excellent characters. Richardson has left a wife and several children, and King is but recently married. What an awful warning this to gamblers and men of high passions.
