THE GLOBE'S SUPPLEMENTS.

The Globe of yesterday, arrived accompanied by two supplements, each the full size of the paper itself, and spread over 48 columns. Each column contains about 8 squares—and if the price of the square were 50 cents, and we reckon Uncle Sam pays as much as other folks—the charge for one publication would be one hundred and ninety-two dollars. But instead of one publication, the "proposals for carrying the mails," (for such are the contents of the two supplements,) are published for weeks and months. How much they may amount to, we should like to know just—for Paul Pry's reason. It is necessary they should be published, and Uncle Sam ought to pay for it, so that if the Globe will tell us what amount is annually paid by the Government for publishing proposals to carry the mails alone, merely to gratify our curiosity, we promise to make no handle of it.
