County Convention Set for August 18.

A populist mass meeting was held at the court house yesterday to arrange for holding a county convention and selecting delegates to it. The meeting was called to order by W. W. Edwards. A. B. Chenowith was elected chairman, and J. D. James secretary. A discussion arose over the legality of this method of fixing for the convention, but it was finally resolved to follow the course marked out. The convention was set for August 18, which by a strange coincidence is the date of the democratic county convention. Some persons given to deductive reasoning thought they saw in this circumstance a movement toward fusion.

The meeting placed the number of delegates at forty-seven, which is just half the number of delegates who will sit in the democratic county convention. The delegates are:

A. Van Doren, G. H. Trook, C. O. Case, John Earl, T. J. Hill, F. A. Shaw, J. Maddox, M. H. Reno, F. H. Lyman, J. F. Hill, N. Hudson, J. Q. White, W. W. Edwards, R. E. Farrington, A. L. Henshaw, D. D. Martin, F. Velarde, W. J. Welcome, W. R. Reno, R. E. Wilson, J. D. James, G. B. Norton, Clifford Collins, M. M. Elder, G. W. Chapman, Lafayette Bronson, A. B. Chenowith, J. Sullivan, F. W. Howard, D. W. Harner, W. C. Harris, B. F. Douglass, J. M. Mullen, F. Hudson, W. C. Collier, W. C. Deputy, C. C. Chambers, F. Smithline, C. F. Peterson, Robert McKnight, John Leyden, Henry
