ALONE IN CABIN
(Special to The Herald.)
Eureka, Feb. 10.—The absence
of
John M. Murray from his usual haunts
led to an investigation this afternoon
by Sheriff Cronin and City Marshal
McMurphy. They found him dead in
his cabin three miles east of town, in
Utah county. The snow was piled high
around the little shack and lay undisturbed but for the tracks of a single
coyote. The body lay in the bunk, and
from all appearances death resulted
from natural causes.
County Attorney Page and Deputy
Sheriff Buchi of Utah county came up
on the night train in response to a
message from Sheriff Cronin and will
endeavor to get through the heavy
snowdrifts tomorrow and examine the
surroundings of the cabin where the
body was found. They will bring the
body here, where it will be buried by
his partner, James A. O'Brien. Mr.
Murray left town Jan. 16, and so far as
known has not been seen since. The
cabin where he lived is in an isolated
spot that is infrequently visited during
this season of the year. For several
years Mr. Murray had been a sufferer
from asthma, and it is believed that
this disease caused his death. He was
an old-time miner and prospector and
spent many years in Colorado. He had
lived in Tintic for twelve years. He
was about 60 years of age, a native of
Ireland and without immediate kin.
About eighteen months ago he willed
his mining property to his partner,
James A. O'Brien, and H. Gustalvi, a
prominent local business man.
