Full Text

The friends of Mr. Van Buren in Virginia are making the greatest exertions throughout the State to defeat the re-election of Mr. Leigh to the Senate of the United States.
The plan of the campaign, as at present developed, is, to get up instructions to the Delegates, and have them privately circulated and signed. This is neither a manly nor a correct mode of proceeding.
But we have not the least idea that their efforts will be successful. We cannot believe that Virginia can be Van Burenized, till we see the fact. Perceiving however these exertions are in operation, we trust the other side will be equally as active.
