Passage of the Treasury Note Bill. This bill has at last barely passed the House, after being pretty nearly shorn of its objectionable features. A motion was made to reconsider it, and the vote stood thus- 110 in favor 109 against, the speaker voted against it, thus making a tie, and of course defeating the reconsideration. By this Bill, the Government may issue Treasury notes to the amount of ten millions, under all the provisions, restrictions and limitations of the Bill of last October. The original bill was for giving the Government unlimited power to issue and reissue treasury notes, at pleasure. This augurs the approaching downfall of the administration, The Kitchen Cabinet, hath lost its magic.
