New Mexico veterans numbering around 23,000, holders of National Service and U.S. Government Life Insurance policies, will receive $1,064,000 in special dividends starting in July, Donald E. Crow, Veterans Administration regional manager, said.
These dividends due to be paid in New Mexico are part of the $230 million in special dividends slated to be distributed to veterans of World War I and II who hold policies.
Crow said payment of the dividends, which will average about $6.90 a $1000 in insurance held by the veteran, will be completed by Labor Day--September 4.
The special dividend is in addition to the $1,200,000 in regular dividends paid out recently to policy holders.
These special dividend payments will help the state's sagging economic picture.
