A Victim of the Fire,
A WILMINGTONIAN AMONG THE UNFORTUNATES.

Mr. Geo. Frank Gouley, who was one of the persons killed at the St. Louis fire, was a native of this city and a brother of John L. Gouley. Previous to attaining his majority he studied law under Hon. James A. Bayard, and was admitted to the bar, although he never practiced the profession. At one time he was a clerk in the Interior Department at Washington, which position he held for a number of years, resigning just before the war broke out, when he went to St. Louis, where he became editor and proprietor of the Freemason. He continued the above business until about two years ago, when he was obliged to sell out owing to the arduous duties of the offices that he held under the Masonic Fraternity, one of which was that of Grand Secretary of all the lodges in the State. The body will be brought on to this city for burial, and will be accompanied by a deputation of members from the Grand Lodge A. F. A. M. of Missouri.

Upon a Gazette reporter visiting Mr. John L. Gouley, this morning, he stated that he had telegraphed to a gentleman in St. Louis, who was very intimate with the unfortunate man, and the only information that he has received this far is that he was killed, and that his wife was in the building at the same time was well, but very much excited, and tears are entertained that she has become crazed with grief. He further states as his opinion that his brother and his wife leaped from the windows locked in each others arms and he striking the pavement first was instantly killed.

When the body will arrive here is unknown but upon its arrival will be taken in charge by the Masons in this city.
