The Presbyterian Church of the United States under the care of the General Assembly comprises, by the last reports, twenty-three Synods: one hundred and eighteen Presbyteries, two thousand six hundred and forty eight Congregations; nineteen hundred and fourteen Ministers, with two hundred and thirty-six Licentiates, making 2150 Preachers of the Gospel: one hundred and eighty five Candidates for the ministry of reconciliation: and two hundred and forty-seven thousand nine hundred and sixty-four Communicants. In the year ending in April last 2056 persons were added on examination to the full communion of the church, and 115 by certificate, making the total of additions of communicants amount to 2111.
