By the mail which arrived on Friday, it appears, that the Court of Naples, besides the two ships of war long since engaged by them in his Catholic Majesty's service, and which they have been called upon to send to immediately to join the Spanish fleet the moment it shall appear in the Mediterranean, are likewise to transfer over their whole naval forces into the service of that Crown, which they are to fit out as soon as possible.
In the mean time the Eugene, St. Michael, and L'Orient, of 70 guns each, sailed from Cadiz the 20th of February, as pretended to cruise off the Cape of St. Vincent. These were followed the next day by two frigates, the St. Gertrude and St. Catherine. The Princess of 70 guns, with the Poderoso of the same force, sailed after them the 5th of March, but in getting out of the bay, the Princess ran on stone rocks and received considerable damage in her rudder and upper works, which obliged her to return. On the 11th of March the regiment of Brunswickers embarked at Cadiz, which, with that of Spain, sailed some few days before, is not to open its orders, till it arrives in a certain latitude. Such are these armaments already made on the side of the Spaniards, not to mention much greater nearly ready in the port of Cadiz.
On the French side, besides the Toulon fleet, 17 sail are fitted out at Brest, among which is one of 70 guns, and two of 64, the rest frigates; on board these, which were ready on the 20th ult. the Duke de Chartres, after joining the Toulon fleet, was to proceed to Cadiz, to join both these to the Spaniards.
