Harry Sunshine Symbol Of Name

What's in a name? Harry Sunshine, owner of Sunshine Department Store, is, symbolically, a ray of sunshine. The public reads daily of many philanthropists who seek to be of benefit to mankind. Others are too modest to have it known.

Mr. Sunshine has been a philanthropist down through the years. He has been a benefactor out of goodness of his heart. He has not sought publicity. The public should know of the many rays of cheer and brightness he has brought into the lives of innumerable members of all races and creeds.

Parent-Teacher Associations, Principals, pupils and other individuals have been aware of Mr. Sunshine's generosity and his strive to build good citizenship through donations to the needy.

Many hearts have been made happy by his contribution of all kinds of clothing, underclothing, shoes, toys, infants necessities, raincoats and hats for patrols, pencils, lollipops and remnants of cloth to schools. P. T. A. carnivals, church benefits would not have had the success attained without Mr. Sunshine's help. Whenever a need is brought to his attention, he never fails to respond.

The schools and churches are not the only institutions receiving these generous gifts. Grady Hospital receives clothing and toys. During the last three years, Mr. Sunshine has contributed over 5,000 lollipops every month to the outpatient children's clinics. This gift must be very gratifying to those children who must take shots. Among other things, he gave a weighing machine to the hospital. Patients may be weighed while they are in bed. Yes, indeed he is a ray of sunshine.

His beliefs and convictions have led new projects that are being sponsored by schools, Hospitals and others. He believes that one who is clean and properly dressed for the weather will be helped to act as good citizens should. They too, should learn to do for themselves in order to appreciate what is being done for them. For example, they should learn to sew. Some school clubs and other sponsored organizations are making use of cloth remnants he has donated as an after hour activity. Pupils are learning to make garments for themselves by hand. A deserving display at the close of school will warrant his donation of a sewing machine to each chosen school.

Mr. Harry Sunshine's good deeds are not confined locally, but have spread nationally and internationally. What's in a name? Mr. Sunshine is, symbolically, a ray of sunshine.
