The Information we have received respecting the Brig ashore at Block-Island is, That she is a Vessel of about 150 Tons, and was bound from Ireland to Halifax, in the Service of the Crown, in Company with 6 others on the same Account, all laden with Stores: That on Christmas Day, at Noon, the Wind at N.E. she ran ashore on a Reef at said Island, about 10 Rods to the Eastward of a good Beach: That the People all went ashore the same Day, except two, one of whom (the Boatswain) was drowned the Night ensuing: That the Person called the Captain of her has not been on board since she lay there: That they have taken out her Cargo, and submitted it to the Direction of two Persons on that Island. The Account of the Conduct of the People on board this Vessel not being satisfactory, the High Sheriff, as soon as the Wind will permit, is going over to enquire into the Affair.
