Candidate for Speaker.

Auburn, September 14.-Judge Savage, who was elected representative by a good majority in the election Monday, will be a candidate for Speaker of the next Maine House of Representatives.
Judge Savage was one of the most prominent members of the legislature of 1891, serving on the judiciary committee. He has served as county attorney and judge of probate, and has thrice been mayor of Auburn. If he succeeds, it will put him to the front as a candidate for governor four years hence.

The Legislature.
So far as heard from the Republicans have elected 111 representatives and the Democrats 34, with six districts to hear from. The last House consisted of 110 Republicans and 41 Democrats. It is certain that the next House, as well as Senate, will be even stronger Republican than the last. The new state Senate will consist of 30 Republicans, and only one Democrat, from Knox county-a Republican gain of three.
Warren is one of the banner towns. Last year the Democrats led by 64 votes. This year the Republicans lead them four votes, increasing their vote from 174 to 198.

Oxford County All Right.

Paris. September 14.-The Oxford Democrat has received nearly complete returns from all the towns in Oxford county, which shows that the Republicans have carried the county by nearly one thousand plurality, electing both senators and all the Republican county officers, and carrying every representative district.

How York Voted.
The town of York, whose vote was not received Tuesday, gave Reed 298, Ingraham 214, Hussey 11.
