-A dog fight on lower Court street this morning created a big sensation and came very nearly precipitating a first-class row.

-A mortgage was filed in the register of deeds office yesterday by the C. R. I. & P. R. R. Co. to the United States Trust Co., on the road in Gage county, for $31,000,000.
-W. D. Perry has just received a complete line of fancy neckwear, sashes, belts, silk handkerchiefs, embroidered hosiery, lisle underwear, silk and puff bosom shirts.
-Old Folks concert at the Christian church tonight. Admission 15 cents for grown folks; 10 cents for children. About twenty men and women singers will sing solemn and worldly tunes.
--There will be another game of ball Thursday afternoon, beginning promptly at 3 o'clock. It will either be the south siders against a Crete team, or the contest of last week will be fought over.
-The Beatrice street railway company is pulling up its track on Grant street between Sixth and Ninth. This piece of track has never been of any use save as a make-shift, hence will not be missed.
-P. B. Sprague, the druggist, received a shipment of Manitou water and ginger champagne yesterday which was undoubtedly the largest ever received in the city. There was just a car load of the waters.
—The address before the graduating class will occur at the Paddock opera house Monday evening next. Prof. L. F. Parker of Grinnell, Ia., college will deliver the address. The subject will be "To College for Self and Country."
-Another nice rain fell hereabouts last night. The day has been one of periodic showers like until the proverbial April day. The seasons are about a month out of whack these times, however, which accounts for the showers getting here in May.
—Col. G. L. Cole is the happy possessor of a valuable specimen of gold bearing quartz that was taken from the experimental well a few days ago. Unfortunately it is a glacial rock and not the percussor of a ledge of the valuable mineral hiding in this locality.
We have secured the services of Chas. F. Kleinhans to take charge of the view department. We are prepared to take views on short notice. Special attention given to fine stock. Mr. Kleinhans is an artist in his line. All work guaranteed at 110 North Sixth street, Campbell Gallery.
--A rumor was in circulation in town yesterday that Dr. H. J. Chambers, formerly superintendent of the Beatrice Paving and Building Brick company, but now employed in a like capacity at Denver, was fatally hurt by being struck on the head by a brick at the hands of a striker during the brickmakers strike in that city last week. The rumor could not be traced to any definite source, and it is hoped that it is a canard.
-There will be another game of ball on the Rock Island grounds in the south part of the city on Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Deutsch Brothers' team will probably have their new uniforms by that time and it is also whispered around that Capt. Ohlman's team will be on hand in full dress parade. These two teams are evenly matched and a good game is anticipated. "Lowe's Lambs" got snowed under in last week's contest and claim that the next game must be theirs.
