Meeker, Colo, Feb. 15—Colonel Roosevelt's outing in Colorado has for this season come to an end. The colonel and John Goff rode into Meeker from the Keystone ranch this afternoon at 3 o'clock. After dismounting in front of the Meeker hotel and greeting those who were on the premises with a cheerful word and smile, he disappeared to his apartments. The governor did not keep himself long out of sight, having a great deal to do in the way of answering telegrams and letters. He was thus kept well occupied until his supper was ready which was prepared for him at the rectory of the Rev. J. W. Handle. Mr. Goff, answering on behalf of Governor Roosevelt, said that seventeen lions were killed during the hunt and that the governor himself killed twelve—four of which he killed with his knife and eight with his rifle. Mr. Goff further stated that Governor Roosevelt yesterday killed the largest lion that has been killed in this section, weighing 227 pounds and measuring eight and one-half feet in the flesh. This large lion was the last killed before breaking camp. Goff states that Roosevelt killed it with his knife.
