Dear Mr. Harris,
I have just received the Augusta Courier for May 15, 1961, and in the second paragraph in your column "Strictly Personal" you wrote: "I do not know what our foreign policy is, but whatever it is it seems to be leading us into the direction of national suicide."
While as far as I know our nation has no written foreign policy but it is now abundantly clear that we do have a consistent and firmly fixed foreign policy. This is confirmed by a consistent course of action on the part of our government rather than any announced policy.
Our foreign policy consists of three steps. First, spending American dollars collected from our taxpayers or passed on to future taxpayers by way of increase in our public debt to build up foreign nations to make them more attractive to the Communists. To, appeasement which enables the Communists to consolidate their position in the country in which we have wasted the American taxpayers dollar. Three, surrender.
I submit that this has become a definite even though unannounced foreign policy and is thoroughly confirmed as result of the actions of our government.
This leads me to agreement with the last part of the above quoted sentence that our foreign policy is "leading us in the direction of national suicide".
Sincerely yours,
(Signed)
