Full Text

From the Des Moines to the Gulf, and from the extreme western border of Texas to the capital of the nation, are strewn the bones of Iowa's sons, who fell in defence of the 'dear old flag.' and in view of the great sacrifices made and endured by Iowa's citizens, it must be regarded as burning shame, gross insult, to parade the utterer of the above sentiments before Iowa audiences. But the people of Iowa are a forbearing people, and it is perhaps best to have Dean bloviate during the campaign to illustrate how deeply some men can wallow in the filth of treason. But, O, what a rebuke is in waiting for him and his 'backers' when the loyalty of Iowa march to the ballot box. Give Clay Dean and Brick Pomeroy every chance and every opportunity to 'blow their bugles' in Iowa. They will receive such an answering blast on election day as will convince them that Iowa people regard them with the most unutterable loathing and contempt.
