Full Text

Extract from a letter to a gentleman of this city, from an eminent house, dated London, Sept. 5, 1775.

"We are made exceedingly unhappy by the acts of parliament relative to the colonies, and for the dreadful consequences that must ensue. God only knows where it will end. The governor's conduct has been most shameful: we are told, it is highly disapproved, even by his friends on this side the water. We sincerely join you in wishing, that the Almighty may dispose the contending parties to bring about a happy and honourable reconciliation."
